CSA: stands for community supported agriculture. Typically the CSA member pays in the spring (when the farmer's expenses are highest) and receives a share each week of the produce that is ready to be harvested.
A full share is a good amount of vegetables for a family of four or more, or a smaller family that would like to preserve some of the harvest. A half share is a good amount for a family of two.
If there are vegetables you don't like, please feel free to request substitutions!
I love sharing recipes, and will include some in the CSA boxes. I'll also post some here and on Facebook.
Correction on the paper brochure: Vegetable distribution will run from the beginning of June to the end of September, rather than mid-May to mid-September.
I will post pictures of vegetables that are available for purchase on Facebook and here on the weblog, but the pricing information will be available via the weekly e-mail. You can place an order by e-mail, private message on Facebook, or by phone or text.
In addition to the home delivery, I plan on selling vegetables at the Yellowstone Farmer's Market. It runs on Saturdays from the third weekend in July to the first weekend in October.
This is my first attempt at my dream career of running a small farm. I have invited only friends and family to the home delivery service. Please do not hesitate to give me any feedback or suggestions you have that can help me improve and be a bit more ready to offer these or similar services to the general public in the next few years.
One of the things I admire about farming on a smaller scale and selling locally is the opportunity for good relationships between the farmer and customer. Feel free to contact me with questions or for any reason!
Melissa
